Falling between categories, my paintings and prints lie somewhere between the inner world of the imagination and the outer world of beauty and nature. Inspired by the Colorado landscape and a daily interaction with wildlife, I search for patterns and clues in my environment. Themes may evolve from shapes on a mountain hillside, the wings of a red tailed hawk, or a cluster of dead leaves. Then I become an experimenter in the studio, trying new combinations of color, form, texture and composition. Opposites often appear together, realism with abstraction or a sense of serious playfulness.
